As part of its public service programmes, MPAC is desirous of participating in the works currently ongoing for the internally displaced persons (IDPs) in the Northern part of Nigeria. We are mobilising emergency aids and supports for some of the 1.53 million internally displaced persons in Nigeria (http://www.internal-displacement.org/sub-saharan-africa/nigeria/).

The IDPs are mostly people who were forced to flee the Boko Haram insurgency in the North East of Nigeria- people displaced and uprooted from their natural habitats. They are currently living in various camps scattered across the North. Other IDPs were displaced as a result of the government-led counterinsurgency operations, inter-communal violence and flooding. MPAC is joining forces with others to show a strong Muslim face and presence at the camps.

Although the Boko Haram are people preaching hate and violent ideology that has no place in Islam, to some of the non-Muslims who have suffered untold hardships in their hands, they are given to the misconceived belief that Boko Haram are Muslims who are promoting an Islamic cause and pursuing an Islamic agenda.

The purpose of the MPAC intervention campaign in the IDPs camps which started last Ramadan is to bring relief to all the victims and to win hearts and minds. Starting from the last Ramadan, MPAC has been calling on all Muslims to show kindness and mercy towards fellow human beings through generous donations and supports in the form of funds, household/living materials, toys and medications.

MPAC will continue to do all in its capacity to go into the IDPs camps and make a difference in the lives of the people.

“The example of those who spend their wealth in the way of Allaah is like a seed [of grain] which grows seven spikes; in each spike is a hundred grains. And Allaah multiplies [His reward] for whom He wills. And Allaah is all-Encompassing and Knowing.” (Qur’an 2: 261)

Ibn Abbas related that the Prophet said: Any Muslim who gives a Muslim a garment to wear will be in Allah’s safekeeping as long as a shred of it remains on him. (Ahmad, Tirmidhi)
