Day 16: Time Management & Rest – Preparing Body and Schedule for Ramadan
It’s 16 days to the blessed month of Ramadan.
Preparing for Ramadan includes caring for the body and managing time wisely. Islam teaches balance — between worship and rest, effort and renewal. Proper sleep, intentional planning, and qaylūlah (a short midday rest) help sustain focus, energy, and consistency in worship during Ramadan.
Allah draws our attention to the value of time when He says:
وَالْعَصْرِ
إِنَّ الْإِنسَانَ لَفِي خُسْرٍ
إِلَّا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا وَعَمِلُوا الصَّالِحَاتِ وَتَوَاصَوْا بِالْحَقِّ وَتَوَاصَوْا بِالصَّبْرِ
“By time. Indeed, mankind is in loss, except for those who believe, do righteous deeds, and encourage one another to truth and patience.”
(Surah Al-‘Asr 103:1–3)
The Prophet ﷺ encouraged moderation, and the practice of qaylūlah was known among the righteous as a means of preserving strength for worship.
Action for today:
Sleep earlier, organise your day intentionally, and practice a short qaylūlah where possible to prepare for the rhythm of Ramadan.
