In the name of Allah, the Most Compassionate, the Most Merciful

(Lagos, Friday, 10/10/2025) The Muslim Public Affairs Centre (MPAC) is deeply concerned about the safety and well-being of Nigerian peace activist Okey Vitalis Nnorom, who has been held captive by Israeli occupation forces for over a week. Okey Vitalis was part of the Omar Al-Mukhtar Flotilla, a humanitarian mission aimed at delivering aid to the besieged people of Gaza.

We are appalled by the blatant disregard for international law and human rights by the Israeli occupation forces. The Nigerian government must take immediate action to secure Okey Vitalis’s release and ensure his safe return to Nigeria.

Reports indicate that Okey Vitalis’s comrades on the flotilla have been released, but he remains in detention. This selective treatment is unacceptable and raises serious concerns about his safety and well-being.

MPAC urges the Nigerian government to:

– Immediately intervene to secure Okey Vitalis’s release
– Ensure his safe return to Nigeria
– Guarantee his rights as a humanitarian activist are protected

We call on the international community and the Nigerian human rights community to join us in demanding Okey Vitalis’s immediate release. The Nigerian government has a responsibility to protect its citizens, and it must act swiftly to ensure Okey Vitalis’s safety.
