‎In the Name of Allah, the Most Compassionate, the Most Merciful

‎Lagos, Thursday, 05/02/2026

The Muslim Public Affairs Centre (MPAC) is appalled by the recent terrorist attack in Woro village, Kaiama Local Government Area of Kwara State on Tuesday 3rd of February, 2026, which has claimed the lives of at least 170 innocent Muslims, including men, women, and children. Gory images from the scene show corpses on the streets in pools of blood. The attack, attributed to Boko Haram terrorists, is a stark reminder of the growing insecurity in Nigeria and the need for immediate action to protect lives.

According to reports, the terrorists had sent a letter to the district head of Woro, Alhaji Salihu Umar, notifying him of their intention to visit the community for preaching. However, when the district head suspected foul play and reported to the security forces, the terrorists retaliated with brutal force, killing scores of people, burning homes, and kidnapping others. This horrific act of violence is a clear indication of the terrorists’ disregard for human life and their intention to spread fear and chaos.

The MPAC condemns this heinous attack in the strongest possible terms and extends its deepest condolences to the families of the victims. We pray for the speedy recovery of those injured and call on the government of Kwara State to provide immediate assistance to the affected communities.

The government must take concrete steps to address the security challenges in the state and protect the lives of its citizens. The recent military operations against terrorist elements in the state are a step in the right direction, but more needs to be done to ensure the security of lives and property. The MPAC also urges the Federal Government to beef up security across the entire Borgu area, from Kebbi through Niger to Kwara, and to work with local leaders and communities to prevent further attacks.

We also call on the international community to support Nigeria’s efforts to combat terrorism and to provide humanitarian assistance to the victims of this senseless violence.

In this dark hour, the MPAC stands in solidarity with the people of Woro and the entire Muslim community in Kwara State and Nigeria. We pray for peace, justice, and healing for the victims and their families.
