In the Name of Allah, the Most Compassionate, the Most Merciful

Press Release: Break the Siege. End the Starvation. Let Gaza Live.

(Lagos, Monday, 08/09/2025) The Muslim Public Affairs Centre (MPAC), Nigeria, stands in firm solidarity with the international flotilla currently sailing to Gaza to deliver food, water, medical supplies, and humanitarian aid to a people deliberately starved and caged under a brutal blockade.

This flotilla is not just a mission of mercy – it is an act of moral defiance against the crime of collective punishment, imposed on more than two million Palestinians for nearly two decades. Gaza has been cut off from the world, strangled into submission, and turned into a graveyard for children and a slaughterhouse of hopes.

Among those on this noble mission is Dr. Fatima Hendricks, a South African cancer survivor, human rights advocate, and a friend of MPAC who has spoken at our Convention and featured in our programmes. Her presence on this flotilla is a beacon of courage and humanity – a reminder that in the face of tyranny, the only acceptable position is to resist, to care, and to stand with the oppressed. MPAC wishes Dr Hendricks and her compatriots on this mission of mercy well, and stand in solidarity with their unwavering commitment to justice.

For 17 years, the siege of Gaza has reduced a vibrant society into ruins. Hospitals without medicine. Homes without water. Families without food. Schools are gone and children are left without futures. This is not just a humanitarian catastrophe; it is a deliberate, calculated war crime.

MPAC calls on the Government of Nigeria to:

-Publicly and unequivocally condemn the inhumane siege of Gaza.

– Raise its voice with other governments to demand safe and unhindered passage for the flotilla.

– Assert Nigeria’s moral leadership by standing firmly with the oppressed and against the machinery of cruelty and injustice.

The time for silence has long passed. Neutrality in the face of genocide is complicity. Every government that fails to speak becomes a partner in crime. Every leader who stays quiet writes their name on the wrong side of history.

We pray for the safe arrival of this flotilla, and we salute the men and women who have chosen conscience over comfort, courage over silence, and humanity over fear. The world must break the siege on Gaza. The world must let Gaza live.

-End-
