“Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji’un (To Allah we belong and to Him we shall return)” – Quran 2:156
The Muslim Public Affairs Centre (MPAC) is deeply saddened by the sudden demise of Dr. Mustapha Alimi, the Medical Director of the National Orthopaedic Hospital, Igbobi, Lagos and a member of the Advisory Council of Sakinah Medical Outreach.
Dr. Alimi was a dedicated and selfless worker for Islam. For decades, he dedicated his life to serving the Muslim community with unwavering commitment, selflessness, and compassion. His contributions to the Muslim Ummah in Nigeria, particularly through the Islamic Medical Association (IMAN), have been immeasurable. His tireless efforts to provide healthcare services to the needy, promote Islamic values, and foster unity among Muslims reflect in the great impact he has left on many organizations, including Sakinah Medical Outreach.
As we mourn the loss of this exceptional individual during the sacred month of Ramadan, we take comfort in the words of the Quran:
“Eveey soul shall taste death, and only on the Day of Judgment will you be paid your full recompense” – Quran 3:185
We also recall the hadith of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him):
“When a righteous slave dies, Allah says to the angels, ‘Take him to Paradise.'” – Hadith, reported by Abu Dawud
We pray that Allah grants Dr. Alimi a special place in Jannah, surrounded by the righteous and the prophets. May his family, friends, and the Ummah at large find comfort and solace in the knowledge that his legacy will continue to inspire and benefit humanity.
May Allah forgive his shortcomings, accept his good deeds, and grant him an abode in Paradise.
