MPAC Rejects the DaVinci Code Story
Muslim Public Affairs Centre, MPAC, is deeply saddened by the way Jesus Christ (Peace be upon him) is depicted in the fictitious movie based on Dan Brown’s The DaVinci Code, and we condemn it as a far-reaching horror and an evil attack by liberal author and entertainers on one of the greatest prophets of God (PBUH). Although presented as a genre of conspiracy fiction, thriller and detective, this work denies the scriptural accounts of the genealogies of Jesus Christ (Peace be upon him). MPAC finds the movie reprehensible because it attempts to defame a great prophet of God by creating confusion between speculation and facts and also by denying history.
The outlandish and inconceivable movie is a total disgrace to all decent works of creativity and a clear testimony that faith is under escalating threat of devaluation by those that are bent on driving it to extinction. First, it was the blasphemous caricatures of Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) and now the DaVinci Code movie which claims Jesus has a bloodline through Mary Magdalene: thus creating for him a false family tree. As Muslims, we stand for the sanctity and absolute respect for Jesus Christ whom our Prophet informs us is nearest to him of all the prophets: Prophet Muhammad said: “Both in this world and in the Hereafter, I am the nearest of all the people to Jesus, the son of Mary. The prophets are paternal brothers; their mothers are different, but their religion is one.” Sahih Al-Bukhari, Volume 4, Hadith 652.
Muslims are people who by the instruction of our religion reject every false idea and defamation against all the prophets of God from Adam to Muhammad (Peace be upon them all), whether in fun, jest, play or seriousness. MPAC voices its concern over this bizarre attack and calls upon our Government, through its agencies, to keep this defamatory movie out of our country. As Muslims, based on our deepest convictions, we join the Christians to stand up firmly to those who are trying to defame one of the greatest messengers of God.
