‎In the Name of Allah, the Most Compassionate, the Most Merciful
(22/06/2025, Lagos) The Muslim Public Affairs Centre (MPAC), Nigeria, strongly condemns the illegal bombing of Iran’s civilian nuclear facilities by the United States. This unprovoked and unjustifiable act of aggression is a dangerous escalation in an already volatile region and constitutes a grave threat to international peace and stability.
‎This latest violation of international law, which comes under the ruse of what America calls diplomacy, marks yet another chapter in the long history of reckless military adventurism by the United States, often orchestrated under the influence of the Israeli regime. For over three decades, both Israel and the United States have relentlessly pushed false narratives regarding Iran’s nuclear programme – much in the same way they falsely claimed the existence of weapons of mass destruction (WMDs) in Iraq, leading to a catastrophic war with lasting consequences.

‎Despite the findings and verification reports of respected international agencies, including the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) confirming that Iran is not pursuing nuclear weapons, the U.S. continues to cook up its own “intelligence,” selectively leaks unverified claims to the media, and pursues illegal wars and attacks based on fabrications. The playbook is painfully familiar – Iraq, Libya, and now Iran.

‎While we recognize that the current situation demands calm, rational decision-making, and a commitment to finding peaceful solutions, we insist that United States attack on Iran is an unacceptable attack on the sovereignty and people of Iran. Iran thus has the inherent right to defend its sovereignty and territorial integrity. We therefore acknowledge Iran’s right to formulate its retaliatory strategies in response to these attacks, and we urge all parties to exercise restraint and prioritize diplomatic efforts to resolve conflicts peacefully.

‎America’s illegal act is also clearly designed to divert global attention from the ongoing genocide in Gaza, where Israel continues to bomb hospitals, schools, and refugee camps with impunity – aided and abetted by the United States government. The world must not be distracted. The lives of innocent Palestinians continue to be lost at an industrial scale, and no propaganda can whitewash the bloodshed or the enabling role of Western powers.

‎MPAC also condemns the growing complicity of sections of the Nigerian media who, since Israel’s unprovoked attacks on Iran a week ago, are saturating the airwaves with unverified reports, speculative analysis, and inflammatory rhetoric. These media narratives serve one purpose only: to echo the talking points of warmongers and legitimize illegal actions under the false banner of security and self-defense.

‎We call on the international community, civil society, and conscientious individuals across the globe to reject the dangerous path of the United States to more war. The people of the Middle East – Iranians, Palestinians, Iraqis, and others – deserve peace, justice, and dignity, not more bloodshed based on manufactured threats and political deceit.

‎MPAC stands with ordinary Iranian people who are all against external aggression, and firmly against all forms of imperial violence, state terrorism, and media complicity that seek to plunge our world into further chaos.
